Maguire secures ‘Go Strandhill’ promotional video for Discovery Centre at Ireland West Airport
Councillor Sinéad Maguire has welcomed the use of the ‘Go Strandhill’ video at the Discovery Centre at Ireland West Airport in Knock, as the promotional video for County Sligo. The video was created from funding Cllr. Maguire secured through the Town and Village Renewal Fund. Through the Discovery Centre, visitors are being provided with an unparalleled demonstration of what the West of Ireland is offering.
Cllr. Maguire said, “This fantastic video was created using professional and voluntary local talent. I approached Ireland West Airport asking for this video to be included in the professional footage and I am delighted that it is being used at the Discovery Centre. This is a great example of local communities combining with the Local Government initiatives, working together to promote their locality to a global visitor audience.”
“Visitor numbers are growing annually at Ireland West Airport, with 770,000 visitors in 2018. I was delighted to secure this project and delighted to see that Strandhill and Sligo are showcasing the best the west of Ireland has to offer visitors.”
The Discovery Centre was completed at the airport in November 2018. It was a collaboration with seven local authority partners in Donegal, Galway City, Galway County, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo and the Western Development commission.
