Maguire calls for more frequent bus service on the Strandhill-Rosses Point bus route for summer season

Councillor Sinéad Maguire  is calling on Bus Éireann to run buses on the Strandhill-Rosses Point route, twice as frequently as normal for the busy summer season. She is also calling for the time of the last bus back to Sligo from the villages to be changed from the current 8.30pm each evening to 10.30pm.

Councillor Maguire said, “This would mean half hourly bus departures from Sligo to each village and the same in the other direction.  Such a move would benefit visitors, who mainly live or are staying in Sligo town, and tourism in Strandhill and Rosses Point.  It would also reduce the number of cars and traffic on the roads towards, and in the villages of Strandhill and Rosses Point and reduce pressure on parking.  Visitors wishing to travel by bus should be facilitated as much as possible to have an enjoyable day by the seaside. It’s a win-win situation .”

She added, “By increasing the frequency of bus journeys and by making the time of the last bus back to Sligo significantly later, it would bring a great boost to quality of life that a visit to the seaside can bring to families. Fewer cars on our roads would also positively impact those living in the villages of Strandhill and Rosses Point”.
